FMGE/MCI Failed Foreign Medical Graduates

The FMGE Exam or MCI Screening Test, conducted by NBE, India, is a mandatory requirement for Foreign Medical Graduates to be eligible to practice in India. Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE)/MCI Screening Test

In India, the National Board of Examination (NBE) is the body responsible for conducting MCI Screening or Foreign Medical Graduate Examinations. FMGs are required to pass the examination to gain a license to practice in India and enter the Indian Health System. Post clearing the test successful candidates are eligible to practice as a medical professional in India.

Also, students are required to take prior Eligibility from NMC/MCI before the commencement of their MBBS or equivalent program abroad. For the eligibility certificate, the applicant is required to submit a NEET-qualified scorecard,  aggregate of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology in the 12th class and an admission letter from the respective university abroad. Students can use a neet score for a maximum of three years to gain admission abroad

As per the FMGE screening test 2002 regulations, “An Indian citizen possessing a primary medical qualification awarded by any medical institution outside India who is desirous of getting provisional or permanent registration with the MCI or any State Medical Council on or after 15.03.2002 shall have to qualify a screening test conducted by the prescribed authority for that purpose as per the provisions of Section 13 of the Act.”
