The Program

The ADYPU – School of Medicine curriculum has been carefully developed around international benchmarks
and meets the high global standards. It provides a pathway for our students to train and work in the United
States of America. We have incorporated the USMLE Step 1 Preparatory course requirements in our curriculum,
thus allowing our students to begin an early preparation and to be competent to appear for USMLE Step 1
examination; leading to United States Clinical Rotation and residency opportunities.
The curriculum addresses extensive anatomical and physiological understanding of the human body. Behavioral
and social sciences, such as psychology and sociology, are integrated into the program. It focuses on the
development of professional attitudes, communication skills, decision-making, and the ability to cope with
uncertainty. Through our program delivery, we ensure that the future doctors are trained with the required
interpersonal skills, understanding of ethical issues, and sensitivity to the emerging contexts. All through the
program, patient safety and skillful professional approach is underlined.
In the final semesters, the program builds-in preparation for Foreign Medical Graduate Exam (FMGE). Qualifying
MCI screening test is essential for Indian nationals with foreign medical qualification to practice in India.
This systematic and rigorous preparation will make it easier for our students to qualify this exam and practice
medicine in any part of India. Similarly, interested students are supported with the preparation for MCCEE
(Medical Council of Canada Evaluating Examination) and MCCQE (Medical Council of Canada Qualifying
Examination), and PLAB for UK.

Benefits of DY Patil, Guyana

Language – Guyana is the only South American nation with English as the official language. As a result,
even the medium of instruction at ADYPU – School of Medicine, is English. This is a big advantage for
medical aspirants, as they don’t have to learn a new language for the course and get to interact easily with
the locals.
People – Almost 50% of the population of Guyana consists of Indians who have migrated from India long
time ago. This results in a very similar environment to that of India. The students feel at home, away from
home, and have a sense of comfort seeing “Indians” around them.
Climate – Guyana has a tropical climate. The temperatures and the weather patterns are pretty similar to
the ones experienced in India. Unlike other countries with extreme climates that are popular destinations
for medical education, Guyana almost replicates the Indian climate. This is a big benefit for the students.
Social safety – A peaceful, democratic country, Guyana doesn’t face any trouble in form of social turbulence.
There is no history of racial profiling or attacks on Asians. This creates a safe and secure haven for students
to live in, without any worries for the parents back home.
Academic accreditation – The medical courses in Guyana are certified by the Government of Guyana and
offer a simple pathway to medical practice in the USA and in India. This is a rarity globally and hence a
unique advantage.
